Where can I get an old fashioned bow and arrows, like the ones on Lord of the Rings?

I’m thinking about learning archery, but I’m missing a bow and arrow! Where can I get one at a really good price?

Many good answers, I would also add try antique shops, we have a friend also charmed by archery and we found her two decent wooden bows for very reasonable prices 25 and 15 dollars respectably. Arrows in good condition are harder to find, but buy any wood ones you see at rummage sales and antique shops then take a class on fletching. Some books can teach you this as well.

you wouldn’t want to start with the old fashioned historic bows. But you don’t want to be lazy with a compound Bow. Look to your local ammunition store or possibly look on the internet. or make one yourself. It’s not really that hard if you have the right materials. i made mine.
    Blessed Be.

Check your area for re-enactment fairs they usually sell handmade weapons like these to the public.

Also check online for medvail weaponry some craftspeople have sales through online sites as well.

We purchased many of these for plays and shows when needed through both avenues.

bowstick.com, but they are getting so many orders for these it might take awhile to get one. Higher quality ones will be over $1000 and hard to find. Look on some european sites for other bow and arrows.

I was at their store in Nebraska and saw some nice, simple long bows for $250 and up. Good quality, wood. (Most of their stock is compound hunting stuff.) They’ve got parts to make your own arrows if you don’t like their inventory. They have great free color catalogs and will ship anywhere fast.

They are getting harder to find on the open market as most have gone to the pulley assisted ones.
try a Renaissance fair or use the search engine and put in makers of re-curved bows or long bows. and be prepared to pa a bot 2to 3 hundred dollars for a handmade one.or try EBay under weapons.

go to any good archery store, they will have a vast assortment of different styles and price ranges, if you don’t see what you like ask them where to get it. if that fails go to the web and search. good luck. archery is a lot of fun and also for home protection look at the cross bows, weather pistol type or full size. awesome things they are and very quite.
