Why is archery no more popular than it is?

I have ask this question before and still wonder. Where I live in a small town we have a twelve target archery range and Sunday after noon there are sometime a waiting line. nearly every able bodied man here thinks he is Robin Hood and a large number of women participate. Lots of people bring children to instruct them there . Other towns I have ben in there are no archery ranges and people look at you like you are crazy when you ask about available archery ranges. It seems with all the archery equipment advertised everywhere on the web and in sports catalogues this doesn’t stand to reason!.

Damn I envy you for living in that small town. Must be more natural less industrialized as most cities are.

It might just depend on who you ask. I was never into archery until I met my husband. Now we all have a bow…except me. My oldest son outgrew his, so I "loaned" mine to him…it’s now pretty much his. Back when we had more money, we used to travel a lot to go to 3D bow shoots. There’s some really good ones in Kansas and here in Missouri.
Perhaps it has lost popularity because of the lack of country folks. Seems everyone wants to move to the city these days, so they can find work. Also, archery takes a lot of skill and patience…guns are just "easier".
